Children's dental care: where to start

Baby teeth are temporary, but caring for them well affects the health of permanent teeth. A short guide for parents.

When should the first visit be?

A first visit once the first teeth appear, or around the first birthday, is commonly recommended. The aim is familiarity and prevention, not treatment.

Brushing starts with the first tooth

Use a soft brush made for children. Ask your doctor about the right amount and type of toothpaste.

Sweets and night feeds

Frequent sugary snacks and sweet drinks before bed raise the risk of cavities. Build the habit of brushing before sleep.

Prevent fear

Do not present the dentist as something scary. Calm, positive talk helps the child get used to check-ups.
